Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Vice President Jejomar Binay graced the December 2015-January 2016 cover of Esquire Philippines magazine decked out in a santa hat.

In the issue titled “Meaning of Life,” Esquire said Binay, a presidential candidate in the 2016 elections, shared in this issue where he’s been and what he’s learned in his journey.

What the netizens think about the cover

Netizens were quick to sound off their opinions about the cover on Esquire Philippines’ Facebook page.

Some compared the cover photo to Dr. Seuss’ “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” referencing it to the corruption allegations Binay is facing, which involves more than a billion pesos in kickbacks. He has been the subject of a year-long Senate probe of alleged anomalies in Makati.

Others likened Binay to Krampus, a horned folklore figure who punished misbehaving children during the Christmas season.

But one netizen defended the magazine, saying that people shouldn’t be quick to judge the issue without even reading its content and its exclusive story on Binay.
