Hero Dog Saves Frankfort Family From Fire

A Frankfort family believes lightning may have been the cause of an early morning fire. The Meadows family was asleep when they say that their 6-year-old dachshund woke them up.

Little Lacy was a rescue animal, who ended up rescuing her family Tuesday morning. James Meadows says it was Lacy’s bark that roused them from their deep sleep while their Frankfort Avenue home caught on fire.

“The dog, Lacy, barked and woke me up. I walked out of the bedroom and I see the couch and behind the couch was glowing,” says Meadows.

The glow was fire. Lacy had woken James Meadows in time to get his wife and two grandchildren out of the house.

Unfortunately, one of the other family dogs did not survive.

The home was completely destroyed and now the Meadows family is just searching for shelter.
